ENTERTAINMENTS.

CENTRAL THEATRE PICTURES TO-NIGHT. “REPUTATION.” In Ihe latest Universal Jewel production, “R°putation,” to be shownthis evening, Priscilla Dean plays two roles w’th a, natural force which lift-, the picture entirely out of the customary stream gf celluloid descending from California. As Laura Figlan, the drug-wrecked ’actress, and as Pauline her purer daughter, she has disintegrated herself into two amazingly different characters, and yet plays each with the same delight- ■ ful ease. “Reputation” has been built around a scenario which *s vastly superior to the prd'nary American standard!, and' the picture is ■technically more than satisfactory. The plot is concerned with the impersonation by an unknown chorus girl of a leading actress who deserts an expensive production for drugs and drink. How Pauline is encored in her mother’s place, and fights for the “reputation” ofl “Laura Figlan” which Laura Figlan herself has sul- - is told in seven very eventful reels, not one of which, strange to. say is superfluous. The theatre scenes in particular ,are very fine, and the action .ranges from a New England hamlet to the outer darknesses of Limehouse.

The prices for to-night have been fixed at 2s upstairs and Is 6d downstairs.
