Nethcrton roads made worse by cartage of metal ir lorries, was a subject of discussion at a meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council on Monday. Cr. Death said the lorries had beer cutting up the Nether.ton roads sc much in the wet weather that he had stopped the carting. The settlers were up in arms because a couple of miles of road was being- t destroyed for the sake of about half a mile.. He thought the present contract should be discontinued! He had authorised a tractor and grader to work out bad portions of the road., Cr. Hayward inquired whether the metal could be landed at Wharepoa ferry. Cr. Chatfield: That road must bf finished for this winter, .• The question arose as to whethei the present 'cotract could be discon, tinned, or whether the Council musl take the full quantity of metal. II was proposed that, metal could be ob tained elsewhere and be handier, t( the' road. z Cr.
