ELIMINATING OVERDRAFT

PLAINS COUNTY’S DECISION. RATE OVER SEVEN YEARS. A recommendation from the finance committee of the Hauraki Plains County Council that the antecedent liability should be dealt with by a rate extending over a period of seven years was put to the open Council on Monday. The overdraft is £6749 5s 7d. In open Council Cr. G. Death moved and Cr, Hayward seconded : “ That the antecedent liability be dealt with by way of a J’ate extending over a period a' seven years.” x Cr. Mayn wished his vote recorded against the proposal, as he thought it whs not fair. Cr. C. W. Harris (chairman of the finance committee) also wished his vote recorded against it. He favoured a loan extending over a period, of years. ‘ Cr. T. McLoughlin also desired to have his . vote recorded against the motion, as fhe future settlers should be made to bear part of the burden. The motion was carried,' with the three dissentients having their votes recorded.
