CAR DASHES INTO STREAM. A BABY DROWNED. ■ A fatal accident occurred-at Morrinsville on Wednesday evening. Mr j. S. a well-known resident o 0 the district, with his wife and three children were returning home from a* motor drive, and when nearing -the bridge across the Motumaoho Creek the lights went out and the steering gear became jammed,, with the result that tffie car, instead of going over the bridge, ran into the creek. T.he ’ occupants were thrown into the stream, and owing to the darkness the baby could not be found. The poor child had evidently, owing to the buoyancy of its clothing, been carried downstream, its dead body being ultimately recovered.. The other occupants were severely-shak-en, but otherwise uninjured.
