mining at waitekauri. VALUABLE REEF UNEARTHED. GREAT EXCITEMENT PREVAILS. (“Gazette” Correspondent) Mr W. S. ■ C. Nichol!, the weiiknown prospector, has recently unearthed what promises to be a very valuable reef;, and great excitement prevails. Further developments arc anxiously awaited. The following is another report of the find: A report was received in Walhi yesterday to the effect that Mr W. Nicholl, a well-known mirier and prospector in the Waitekauri district, has discovered there a large goldbearing ree> said to be 40ft wide and to carry fair values; ajso that the ore body has been traced for a distance of a-quarter of a mile. No direct information has reached Waihi on the stated find, but it is known that Mr Nicholl and others have been prospecting about Waitekauri foi some time and that some reefs have been met with. • ' ‘
