STOCK- SAI,IK. The Farmers’ Co,op. Auctioneering C 0.,; Ltd., reports :— ■ At. Hamilton on' .Tuesday, February 21, we again' had a Heavy yarding of sheep, and pigs and cattle in a .fair number. • The beef r .wa,s : mostly of plain quality; arid declined in value. Steers, medium Weights, 1 sold from £5 to £6 3s ; cows, best, from £4 ,*p £4 17s 6d, lighter weights £3 to £3 15s. Store cattle throughput were also much easier,- steers, plain,'bringing from £4 10s to £5, 2%year £3 3s to £3 7s; fresh-conditioned cows 33s to 365; 18-anontK steers, rough, 325; heifer calves 31s to 355; bulls from £1 7s 6d to £2 12s 6d, according to weight. The quality of the sheep yarded was, generally speaking, inferior, and the decline very marked. Fat wethers, lignt, made to 18s ; If at ewes 13 s to 14s ; fat lambs to 19s; best forward woolly lambs to 10s 6d; shorn lambs, medium, 5s 6d to 7s. A number of good lines were passed in. Breeding ewes were dull of sale. It must be admitted, however, that the two esH sential features, quality and condition, were lacking in most of the lines submitted. Twelve shillings was the highest figure recorded for. f.m., and aged ewes 5s to 7s 6d. Pigs were in strong supply and fully maintained last week’s rates. Baconers made to £4, 32s to £3, slips 17s 6d to 30s, weaners 8s 6d to 15s.
