PARLIAMENTARY TOUR.
TURUA PREPARINGACCOMMODATING VISITORS. Tn order to arrange accommodation and entertainment for the Parliamentary visitors who will probably be staying at .Turua overnight during their proposed tour of the Hauraki Plains, a meeting was held at Turua on Monday evening. Mr H. Grundy was elected chairman and Mr Gardiner secretary. The chairman announced that a Turua lady had offered to accommodate about 20 members, and Mr R. McLean said he had received offers for the accommodation of nine. The meeting was satisfied that the Turua residents had arranged sufficient accommodation for the party. Messrs Bedford, Grundy, Gardiner, and McLean were deputed to wait on the County Council to ascertain what cost it wbuld agree to bear for accommodation in Turua. *lt was suggested that a banquet should be held on the evening of the Parliamentary visit. The following committee was appointed to ascertain the probable cost of the banquet: Messrs McLean, Davis, Goodsell, and Mercer. Mr Davis contended that the banquet should be a district function. Mr J. Bennett thought that as there was in the district a farmers’ union, which was representative of both thefarming community and the townsfolk, that body should have made an rangements,. Messrs Grundy, Gardiner, and MpLean were appointed to wait on the executive of the Tunua branch- of the N.Z. Farmers* pnion. ,
