PETTY STRIFE.

i IRRELEVANT ARGUMENTS. Arguments, irrelevant to the subject under discussion at a meeting at Turiia on i Monday, at times grew rather heated and were in themselves ample evidence that there are two parties in Turua working one against the other. A remark by Mr Davisj* that he had heard that another section of the community was endeavouring to arrange to entertain the Parliamentarians was confirmed by Mr Gardiner, who said it was the little section which was leading the faitoers against the township section. He deplored the fact that there had been too much petty strife as the alleged reason why the Turua permanent roading scheme had beep vetoed. Mr Davis contended that the party strife was ruining the district. Bota sections should unite and work together. Mr Grundy asserted that a certain section would sell the district, but Mr Davis said he had not noticed any such feeling. Mr Gardiner wished .to see all the trouble settled immediately. “I would like to meet the other section face to face,” he said, “and thrash the matter out.” He further contended that the cause of the squabbling was the turh.l ing down of the Turua roading loan. He /expressed a wish' of meeting the Good Roads Committee in pub/ic and have the matter out.
