CAMPAIGN FOB'ESS,OTO. An appeal for assistance in collecting £25,000 for the Protestant Orphan Homes in Auckland was piade by the Rev. Jeffries at the County office yesterday afternoon. The meeting was presided over by His Worship the Mayor, and was poorly attended, due, no doubt, to the unsuitable hour, 1.30 p.m. After Mr Jeffries had outlined the work that was -being carried on by social workers on behalf) of the destitute children a committee consisting of the Mayor (Mr P. E. Brenan), Revs. Dobson and Enticott, and Messrs Cooper, Whitten, E. Edwards, E. E. Gil'lmkn, G. Lamb, P. C. Furley, and Mrs Andrews was set up, with power to add to their number, to organise the campaign in Paeroa. The Mayor was elected chairman and the Rev. Enticott secretary to the committee.
