GORED BY A BULL.
— : FATAL ACCIDENT AT NGATEA. A shocking accident occurred at Ngatea on Sunday, when Ernest J. Phillipps was gored by a bull. It is understood that he had the animal in a yard when it attacked him and inflicted serious injuries to the abdominal regions. He was immediately removed to the Thames Hospital, where he lay in a critical condition. The unfortunate man’s death was announced, in Ngatea yesterday morning. Tli'e late Mr Phillipps was one of the first settlers in the Ngatea district, where his death- is deeply re- 1 grettcd. At the executive meeting of the Hauraki Plains A. and P. Association yesterday afternoon a motipn of condolence was passed to l\is relatives. The bull which, inflicted the injuries is said to be a fierce one, and on previous occasions had given trouble. The deceased had intended to dehorn the animal, which caused his death before this was done.
