NETHERTON ROADING.
PETITION OF COMPLAINT.
DIFFERENT METHODS SOUGHT.
Sixty-eight ratepayer’s in the Neth: erton district petitioned the Hauraki Plains County Council ,as follows, in a document received by the Council during the monthly meeting held at Ngatea on Monday:— We the undersigned ratepayers of the Hauraki Plains County hereby respectfully urge upon you as our representatives the immediate necessity of having a thorpugh investigation into the administration of the engineer’s department, of your Council. We allege—
(1) That the roads in this dis-, trict are in a most shocking condition.
(2) That loan money recently expended on Wilson’s Road and that in connexion with the production of metal from the Hikutaia quarry has been most extravagantly wasted.
(3) As progressive settlers desirous of seeing" advanced methods adopted throughout the county, we feel there is little or no hope of further loans being approved until your Council sh'dws some tangible evidence of drastic changes in the present methods. (4) That this district, so advantageously situated, is being deprived of its expected natural advancement, chiefly through lack properly constructed roads, and we feel that your Council should now grapple with the position without further delay. Dated at Netherton this sth day of January, 1922.
The Council decided to take steps to give effect, to the desires of the petitioners. The matter of Wilson’s Road work is referred to -in the general report.
