HAURAKI PLAINS MAILS.
BEATING THE SERVICE. DAIRY CHEQUES TO-DAY. MOTOR BUS BENEFITS. The Hauraki Plains suppliers to .the N.Z. Co-op erative Dairy Co., Ltd., will have cause to-day to rejoice that Messrs Brenan and Co. have been so enterprising as to inaugurate a motor bus service between Paeroa and the Plains. To-day the mppthly cheques to suppliers were sent put by the Paeroa office of flhe company (old Thames Valley), by a member of the staff, on the 7 a.m. bus, to be posted at Ngatea and Kerepeehi respectively, so .that suppliers will receive them today. Before the advent of the bus the cheques, if posted on Monday, sav, would not reach Ngatea before Wednesday or Thursday. There is no argument for the retention of the present rail and river meander round via Thames, and precious little for the suggested mongrel mixture (train, ’launch, and motor) via Kopu, if this is intended tp checkmate the desire of the Plains people to get their mails direct from the trains at the railway junction at Paeroa.
The Company also sent circular letters with the cheques, pointing out that it would now be convenient for suppliers (o come into Paeroa occasionally, and call at the office, should they have any matter they wished for information upon. The hope was expressed .that there would so.on be a daily mail service between Paeroa and Ngatea. There would be plenty of time to do general business before returning.
