PATETONGA. AWAITING NEW POST OFFICE. At present there are 70 telephone subscribers at Patjetonga awaiting connection. The Karangahake post office is .to be. .moved to Patetonga, where it will be re-terected. It is understood that the connections will be made when the post office is completed. MOVIES IN NEW HALL. Mr Woods, of Paeroa, has expressed his intention oC commencing regular picture entertainments jh the Patetonga Hall. The first picture night will be ■ within a few weeks’ time.
HOPAL.
TENNIS CLUB’S OPENING DAY.
The Hopai Tennis Club could .no'. have wished for better weather; conditions than those which prevailed last Satuiday on .the occasion of the season’s opening day. Quite a number, of visitors_attended from Ngatea, Turua, Kopuarahi, and Pipiioa. Several sets ot mixed doubles were played, and a dainty afternoon tea proved a welcome refresher.
TURUA.
IMPROVING A DRAIN.
The work of widening and deepening a drain that runs from the willow drair. to a point about half a mile from the junction of the Nga.tea and Orchard East roads, is said to be progressing satisfactorily under the supervision of Messrs Lord and Sainsbury. - PROFICIENCY EXAMINATIONS. The Proficiency Examination will be held at Turua on November 30, and at Kopu on December L Mr C. Pi Munro will be the examiner.
NGARUA.
DREDGING WORK. One of the dredges now at Kerepeehi is to be moved to Ngarua.
