Local and General

Messrs J. Stone and J. Dean, of Huntly, left here on Wednesday afternoon to join the transport at Auckland, as ship’s carpenter and trimmer, respectively, conveying the change of garrison to Samoa. The holiday period passed off in Huntly very quietly, the town being particularly orderly. A good many of the residents took advantage of the occasion to visit Auckland and other places of interest. Various picnic resorts were well patonised by those unable to arrange for leaving the town. The excursions to Whatawhata and Hamilton by the s.s. Tawera were well patronised. The weather was all that could be desired.
