Benefit Social.
A most successful social, promoted by the members of the Huntly Orchestra and Minstrel Troupe, was held in the Miner’s Union Hall on Wednesday last, the proceeds being devoted to the benefit of Mrs Baker, widow, of Private F. Baker, who was killed in action in France some time ago. The building was crowded. T :e music, as provided by the Bluntly Ocliestra, was al! that could be desired, while the extras, played by Mrs Brooks and Mr R. Hayes in their usual efficient style were much appreciated. During the evening, songs were most acceptably rendered by Miss Bartle and Messrs Stowe, Robson, Wesley and Knapper, while Mr Budge was responsible for a fine recitation. Light refreshments were provided and were done full justice to. Altogether, the social may be prononouneed one of the most successful that has been held in Huntly for some considerable time.
