The War in Europe.
WHY THE UNITED STATES CAN NO T ENTER.
A writer in the New York “ Call ” says : “If all correspondents in E irope- worked under instructions to favour one side of the war, it would not be long until the United States would be considered the moral enemy by the other side. Trouble would surely result. And when publishers so condnct themselves as to incite trouble, they aim a blow at the peace and welfare of the ' country—an act which may, in the last conclusion, he considered treasonable. If the United Stat->.-io tons side or the other with European nations, it would divide those peoples of those nations who are citizens of the United States into opposite factions. An alliance would be the signal for riots in everv city in the nation, and every village and hamlet.”
