Huntly Rifle Club.

An informal meeting of the Huntly Rifle Club was held on Tuesday last at the King's Hall. The President explained that the meeting was called in consequence of a letter received from Lieutenan* Ansell. in which he offered to drill the club on any day suitable to them. Lieutenant Ansell attended and addressed the meeting, giving much useful information. After discussion, it was eventually decided that drills should be held weekly on Saturday afternoon from 3.30 to 5 p.m., at the Drill Hall, the first drill to take place on Saturday, May 15th. For the information of those who ought to join, we would point out that the Rifle Club is a unit of the Territorial Force, and can be called upon for home defence only. In these times of war, it would be a foolish man who would speak against the training of all males, so that they might be available for defence if the country were attacked, and we have no doubt that there are many men, who failed to take advantage of their opportunities for training in their younger days, who would now gladly give up much of their spare time, so as to fit themselves to take their proper place in defence of their country should necessity arise. Here, then, is their op-

portunity. Let them roll up on Saturday, and take part in. the first drill. Men aee sometimes deterred from joining a movement such as this, by the thought of their comrades, amusement at their awkwardness at first, but there need be no fear in this instance. All, with very few exceptions are green horns. We hope to see a big muster on Saturday, of men ea er and willing to make some sacrifice to help the defence movement.
