Welcome Social.
A social to enable the Methodists of Huntly to extend a welcome to the Rev. W. A. Watsojh, who is taking over'the chargeyjf the Huntly Methodist OhuTcll, was . held on Monday eVetiing last. Mr E. W. Sheeran presided over a vary large and enthusiastic gathering, the proceedings opening with a hymn. Addresses of welcome were given .by Messrs A. Hooker, G. Aspinall, and E. George, who each spoke on behalf of different departments of the church’s work, and assured Mr Watson of the loyal and .hearty support of every worker. During the evening songs were very accep.ab!y rendered by Misses Leather, Pickworta and Geary, and a recitation by Mr S. Hooker. An anthem was also sung by the choir.
Mr Watson responded welcome speeches in a most able manner, after which the gathering partook of the bountiful refreshments which had been provided by the ladies. The singing of the doxologv brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
