BUCKLAND V HUNTLY. The tennis match, Buckland versus Huntly, was played at Huntly on Saturday, and resulted in a very close and even contest. The local form was much better than expected and the result quite up to anticipations. The courts, owing to the recent rains, were in very good condition and played true, which no doubt accounted in no small degree, for the more accurate tennis which was played. In the Gents’ Doubles Huntly won two matches out of the three. In the Ladies’. Doubles they won one and lost one. In the Combined Doubles they won one and lost two, and in the Singles they won two and lost three. The final count showed that Buckland were victors by seven matches to six, and by 104 games to 102. The detailed scores are given below, Buckland names and scores being given first in each instance. Gents’ Doubles. A. Bilkey and H. Davy v. S. Gleeson and A. Green, 4 —6, I—6, L. Harris 9 —6: A Tennis Match will be played at Huntly to-morrow, between the Taupiri and Huntly Clubs. On each occasion that these Clubs have met this season, Taupiri has * proved victorious. As the Huntly Club is at present weakened by the absence of several of its • best players, it may be expected that former performances may be repeated, but, as we are informed that several Taupiri players will not be available for the match, there is a chance that things may be evened up a little and we may expect to see a keen contest. Tne Huntly team was not picked in time for publication, but in all probability it will be much the same as last week against Buckland. Since the above was written we have ascertained that the Huntly team will be as follows: Ladies —Mrs Harris, Mrs Littleproud, M.ss Spiers, Miss Sterling. Gents —Mr S. Gleeson, Mr A. Green, Mr O. Webster, Mr J. Burgess, Mr F. Harris and Mr C. Gleeson. t
