Huntly Relief Fund.
Mr J. O’Brien, Secretary of the Taupiri Miners’ Union, has received from Mr P. H. Plickey Hickey the following letter: — “Acting under instruction from the Huntly Disaster Relief Committee, of Wellington, I am visiting Huntly on Monday next, in order to ascertain if there is any possibility of so arranging matters that the £2009 at present held by ns can he transferred to the control of a central body in Huntly, in whom the hulk of the workers of Huntly have confidence. If a joint meeting could ho arranged of your executive, our committee representatives in Huntly (Rev. Father Edge, Rev. Evans, and Messrs. Knapper and Mel ling) and say your Town Board 1 would be greatly obliged. I would be pleased if the meeting could be arranged at 7. 30 or 7 o’clock. ” In consonance with this request the Town Clerk has summoned a meeting of the local committee for Monday night.
