KING’S HALL. FRIDAY. SATURDAY AND MONDAY. “ The Trial of a Heart,” 2,500 feet in length, is 1 110 picture deluxe for Friday night. This sensational photo-drama is of intense human interest. and tells a story of self sacrifice and peril, in which a secret marriage, a motor smash, a thrilling fall down a cliff, and a rescue are depicted in a manner amazingly realistic. “ Tempest Tossed “ A Train on Fire,” and “ A Mock Marriage” form the supporting dramas, while “ laughter, holding both its sides,” will be evoked by “The Unhappy Photo,” “ Some Pull ” and “ Brown’s Day Off,” while Of considerable educational interest is the film which shows how the millions in New York are protected from fire. On Saturday the piece dc resistance is “ The Murdock Trial,” a film almost 4,000 feet long. This simple, straightforward, visualisation of one of the most famous murder cases in the annals of crime presents the world famous Florence Turner as Helen Storer, the heiress who, to save her lover, convinced the court that she was the criminal; Richard Norton as Henry Murdock; and Will Fenton as the butler, the chief witness in favour of the heroine who is saved just in time to prevent a serious miscarriage of justice. “ The Horse Race at Howley’s Ranch ”is a very fine Western Drama, while “ Diamond Cut Diamond” and the other star films forming the supporting programme are well worth seeing. Monday’s programme is equally good, and comprises films of intense scenic, educational, comic and dramatic interest, the principal picture, “The Black Sheep” being as fine a type of the cinematographic art as it is possible to procure. This programme, which will be shown at Ohinewai on Wednesday night, as well as the other two, are absolutely new to the Dominion, and are weil worth seeing.
