Bachelors’ Bail.
A GREAT SUCCESS. The Bachelor’s Ball of 1914 is now numbered among the recollections of the past, and Wednesday night’s function will be regarded as one of the most enjoyable and successful ever held in Huntly. The arrangements as made by the committee were complete in every detail, and nothing that could add to the pleasure of the dancers or of the spectators Lad been omitfcted, the two honorary secretaries, Messrs W. Evans, and T. Starr, proving their capacity and ability in the performance of their onerous and varied duties. The Miner’s Hall in which the bail took place was beautifully decorated for the occasion, the flags and greenery blending harmoniously and forming a fine contrast to the beautiful toilettes of the ladies and the the more sombre garments of the gentlemen. Some sixty couples participated in the dance, while the gallery was well filled with spectators. The floor was in first class order; the music by the Huntly Orchestra, under the baton of Mr Farrimond, was excellent in quality and variety; the supper was of a recherche nature ; and the M’s.C., Messrs F. J. Farrell, Chas. Fraser, A. Berry, J. D. L. Leech, and Geo. Dennatt, did their work admirably. From the start at 8.30 until the close about 3. a.m. things went without the least hitch, the only regret being the arrival of morning with its call to the ordinary duties of work-a-day life.
