MEETING OF NEW COMMITTEE.
The new committee met immediately after the householders’ meeting, Messrs Jas. Elliot and J. Gardner being elected chairman and secretary respectively.* In thanking those present for re-appointing him to the chair, Mr Elliot cordially welcomed the new members, and paid a tribute to the presence on the Huntly committee for the first time of two ladies, who, he was sure, would become valuable members and whose help and advice would prove highly beneficial to all concerned. The outgoing committee had proved a very happy family, and had done' good work, and he was sure that at the end of their term of office the verdict on the present'committee would be similar. Mr Lambert endorsed the words of the chairman as far as the ladies were concerned. For the position of caretaker and custodian of the school there were six applicants. Mr Porter, whose seconder was Mr Ruston, moved that the lowest tender, that of Mr A. H. Geary, at £49 per annum, be accepted. The motion was unanimously carried. It was decided that the committee meet as usual on the first Thursday of each month.
