Raglan County Councle and Motorists.

) The committee of the Auckt land Automobile Association at 1 their last meeting received a 1 tetter from the clerk of the Ragi tan County Council who wrote i stating that the body had decided to alter its by-law prohibi- * ting motor trafie on the ' Waingaro - Ngaruawaliia road, - and frame fresh by-laws govern--1 ing such traffic on the road in s question. This did not, however, ■ mean that the road was now open for motor traffic, as the present , by-law would stand until the t proposed new one was made. The president said that on the previous day members of the . committee and of the County Council had conferred on the subject of the new by-laws to be . framed. Several had been sug- , gested and discussed. Some of these would have been irksome and unworkable, and these these the council members undertook to recommend for modification or deletion. The position now was that motorists would be able to use the road, but it would be necessary to drive slowly and keep on the outside. The council wished to place a warning sign on the road, and Kad asked for a contribution of £5 to cover the cost. It was agreed to vote that amount.
