Acclimatisation Matters.
The annual general meeting of the members of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society was held in the Chamber of Commerce Rooms, Swanson Street, Auckland, on Wednesday night when, among the large number present, were representatives of the Huntly, Ngaruawahia and Ohiniwai Rod and Gun Clubs as well as several well known local sportsmen. For the office of president there was a keen fight, the candidates being Lieut. Col. W. H. Hazard, who was nominated by Messrs R. Nichoils (Huntly) and Willis (Hamilton), and Mr R. Reynolds, of Cambridge, whose nominators were Messrs J. Glasson (Thames) and J. Robertson (TeKuiti). The result of the ballot, which showed a majority of 46 votes in favour °f Col. Hazard, was received with loud and prolonged cheers. Mr F. Earl, K. 0., was appointed vice-president while the council was re-elected en bloc.
