tlie Huntly School ox Mines took place on Monday night, Mr J. Fletcher presiding. After* the new director of the school, Mr J. Lamont, had been welcomed by the chairman, the syllabus of instruction as submitted was approved. It was decided to split the remainder of the year into two terms, a break of three weeks to intervene between the two, and to commence the first term on the 6th inst. On Tuesday night 23 students were enrolled : 15 taking mining subjects; 22, mathematics; 9, chemistry ; 10, mechanibs and steam ; and 7, English.
