Ponsonby Boys’ Band.

As was stated in last week's issue the Ponsonby Boys’ Drum an 1 Fife Band will arrive by tolay’s express. At the station they will he accorded a suitable welcome, and after playing several selections will proceed to the school where they will deposit their instruments and he billeted among their respective hosts. In the evening the lads will tarn out about 6. 30, and, it’ter playing from one end of the town to the other, will assemble at the Miners’ Union Hall where the hand will ronder a number of choice selections. The services of the band will he called into requisition at the concert, several of the members contributing instrumental and vocal items as well as recitations. On Saturday morning the lads will play in all parts of the town, and, in 1 order to help to defray the cost of their trip to Wellington, Hamilton and Huntly, will take up a 1 voluntary collection. The handmaster and those under his baton are giving their services free of charge in the hope that their efforts will be rewarded by a sum sufficient to start a band in Huntly unencumbered by debt of any kind. The Huntly committee in charge of arrangements ’ think it “upto ” local residents to show their appreciation of the Pcn-onby Band’s services by means of generous donations.
