Miss Harris, of Harrisville, returned home yesterday after a brief visit to the citv. Mr Jas. Fletcher, manager of tho Taupiri Mines, proceeded to Auckland on Monday From latest reports Mrs J. A. Parkes is progressing as favourably as can be expected. A"- the result of a fall, Mr W. Jolly’s little girl bent one of the bones in her arm. Master L. His many friends and grateful patients in Huntly will be pleased to learn that Dr. Douglas of the Waikato Hospital irecovering well from his severe i 1 Iness. Mrs R. Johnson, Huntly South, returned ou Tuesday from Hamilton Hospital where she derived considerable benefit from the treatment received. Mrs J. A. Payees, of Hakanoa Street, was taken on Saturday morning to the Hamilton Hospital where, it is understood, she will undergo a very serious operation. By his uniform courtesy, his genial and kindly disp >sition, and the keen interest he took in the many institution - with which ho was connected, Mr Howard leaves many friends in Huntly whose best wishes he carries with him. Egerton Ward has been elected Moderator of the Waikato Presbytery for th? next twelve months. With Mr Ward in the chair, the “fathers and brethren”, no doubt will practice due decorum, and by submitting to the ruling of the Moderator, will not evoke an exposition ot savatc or - of scientific boxing. in both of which arts the “fighting pars n” is an expert.
