Mine Matters
HUNTLY COALMINE EMPLOYEES’ UNION. A general meeting of the members of the above union was held in the King’s Hall on Monday night, Mr S. Smyth presiding. Mr J. V. Johnson’s tender for the building of an office was accepted, subject to certain "■conditions. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing i twelve months : President: Mr S. Smyth ; Vice-president: Mr Arthur ChapI man; Treasurer: Mr Jas. McIntosh; Secretary: Mr Steuart (Dixon; Committee: Messrs B. Lovell, W. Waugh, H. Legg, P. Whorskey, and J. G. Harvey; Auditors: Messrs J. Elliot and F. Harris. The salaries of the .'Ccretary and other officials, as well as compensation for any : loss of time by them were lixed. A sub-committee, comprising Messrs Lovell, F. C )X, and H Logg was appointed to rovis: the rules. | It was decided that the union accept no clearanceexcept from candidates fot membership who have been i members of a Union registerei i under the Conciliation am | Arbitration Act.
