A meeting of the trustees was held in the Library on Tuesday evening, Mr J. A. Parkes . presiding. The action of the ; , chairman in c mnection with the necessary repairs as . effected, was approved. and the secretary was instructed to pay the account when it was presented. The question of closing the Reading Room was fully discussed, and it was decided to defer the matter until the annual general meeting, the chairman giving notice that lie would then move to the following effect: “That on account of ithe lack of public support and interest, th? Read- j ing Room be closed for the future.” it vas resolved that a catalogue of the library bosks be procured. Two small accounts were passed for payment. The secretary stated that alter paying all outstanding accounts he had some £l3 in hand. Twenty-three volumes of the latest " fiction were placed | on order.
