CRICKETERS' WIVES
AUSTRALIAN TOURING TEAM
CONTROVERSY AGAIN RAISED
(United Press Association—By Electro Telegraph—Copyright.)
.LONDON, December 82,
The “Daily Telegraph” has a leading article entitled, “Contracting Out of Wives.” It says: “That a wife is not cricket, seems to be a scandalous proposition. Yet we acquit the Australian Cricket Board of Control of any misogamy in contemplating the enforcement of the old rule regarding the wives of players. Their principle is that a man cannot serve two masters I ! Trouble is now threatened, because Bradman is thought, believed, or rumoured to deny the powers of any Board of Control over his matrimonial affairs. Though Mrs Bradman has been married for, one year and a half, Australia whispers that Bradman is not likely to come "without her. In the face of such devotion, what is the use of sacrifice? The other hern,. O’Reilly, who is reconciled to the thought of leaving his wife behind can only hope that all possible tragedies will be averted.”
