AT KAIHINU. A representative gathering of parents and friends assembled at the break-up of the Kaihinu school on Wednesday, ! December 20. The school/was tastefully decorated by the pupils and’ the greet- ( ing “A Merry Xmas” -artistically -. inscribed in ferns.upon the wall by the. Maori pupils, bore testimony to the •festive spirit of Christmas. Previous to the prize-giving a short concert was . given by the pupils, Miss Routlcdge presiding at the piano. The programme was 4 S follows Song by the school, “The Fairy Glade” ; song-by the primer classes “Peggy Wig” ; dance, Sailor’s (Hornpipe,. Betty Finch j recitation “Ea s y to Live lVith,” Blanche Dove; haka by five Maori boys; song “Good Mother Hen” bv the tinies; recitation “Ambition” -Ralph Miller; “The Coalman,” Nola Doyle ; song, “The Blacksmith” St. II boys ; dance, “The Half-moon” fit. JI and II pupils. The chairman* of the school committee, Mr A. Richards, in presenting the gardening prizes congratulated the children on the high standard «f excellence they (had achieved in their gardens, the boys -in (the vegetable . plots, and the girls in the flower gardens. The attendance roll of honour .was unveiled and the following certificates presented : i .
