CHEMIST FINED
SIX CHARGES ARE PREFERRED
UNDER DANGEROUS DRUGS ACT.
CHRISTCHURCH, December 21
Six charges under the Dangerous Drugs Act:were preferred against Ralph. (R. Parnhani, a chemist, of 670, Colombo Street, in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. W
The charges were: (1) Supplying seven grains of heroin hydrochloride to a person not- licensed under the regulations and not having a prescription for, the purpose; (2) failing to record an the prescription book th e required particulars of prescriptions dispensed which contained dangerous drugs; (3) supplying on four occasions heroin hydrochloride without a direction from the doctor signing the prescription j (4) supplying tincture of opium, in all two and a half ounces, to a person not a licensee and without a prescription; (5) supplying tincture of opiunr in all thirty-two ounces, to persons hot licensees under, the Jet,., and without a medical,' dental or veterinary .prescription ; (6) supplying, a half ounce of tincture of opium under similar circumstances: ■ ' r ■
The .Magistrate said he knew defendant by repute as a very decent man,' but offences of this nature had to be put a stop to. Defendant 1 was liable to a fin e of £SO on each charge. \ For failing to' record a prescription in a prescription book, Parnham was fined £3 ,and csts; and on each of the other .chafge s to 'which-'he pleaded guißy he was fined 20s and 'costs'.
