Exceptionally heavy railway travelling, event' for the holiday period, is reported at South Island stations. An official stated this morning that a man, who has been with the department- from before the war cannot remember heavier bookings at Christchurch than this Christmas.

The Wahine this morning brought a full complement from Wellington. She will take 700 north to-night, and the Rangitira takes 900 north tomorrow.
