Bankruptcies recorded in-the district from Halcombe to Levin, of which Palmerston North is the centre, total 23, for the year, • being-'the- lowest since 1320, when there were eight. The highest point in the interim, was, 52 in' 1927;
MURDER AND SUICIDE. GISBORNE, December Ip An inquest was held at Tolaga Bay to-day Ooncerniirg the' double tragedy in the early hours of Sunday morning, and the coroner return a Verdict that death in the case of Annie Amelia Martin was caused by a wound in the forehead, inflicted by her husband. The death of Henry Martin was due to a gunshot wound, self inflicted.
