STRATFORD, December 22
After skidding on a corner- on a mud road between Tahofa and Tangarak.au at 9.3 p.m. on Wednesday, a truck, driven by Desmond 'Hight, aged 22, of Tangarakaii, capsized off th e road and fell -on a fence, pinning Hight between the lorry and the fence.
Hight was forced across the fence and* endured untold pain for 9-J- hours in heavy rain till h e was found at 7 a.in. yesterday. .. . Only a few chains away' were a house and a, hut full of workmen, but Hight’s cries for help were unheard. No traffic passed in the interim. In addition to the weight of the truck, he had to breathe fumes of petrol leaking from the tank. With the truck above the fence, the wires had been cutting into his body, thro.at and face. His experience was unenviable. Hight is now in Stratford hospital.
