The Water Board’s figures for building operations in 1933 show that 1806 buildings were completed in the Metropolitan area at a cost of £2,214,503, compared with 1433 buildings costing £1,881,500 in 1932. This, it is stated, was an indication that the building trade is showing definite signs of reviving, the growth in the number of and flats, particularly, indicate that house accommodation in Sydney is becoming relatively scarce.
