GISBORNE, December 21

Yesterday at Ruatoria, Detective McLeod arrested Henare Ponanga who later appeared in court, charged that, on or about June 13, at Ruatoria, being a clerk employed by the Native Land Department did steal £6/3/6, the property of the Department. On the application of the detective, accused was remanded by consent to January 17/ the detective indicating that further inquiries were necessary. Bail was allowed at £IOO, and one surety of £IOO.
