AWARDED TO QUAKE WIDOW

WELLINGTON, December 21

Damages amounting to £IOOO were awarded rn the Arbitration Court by His Honour, Mr Justice Frazer, in favour of Mary Evans, whose husband, David Evans, a barman at the Masonic 'Hotel, Napier, was killed during the earthquake in February, 3, 1931. Deceased ran out into the street- and was killed on the pavement, a nd R was held that an -ambit or scope of -duty was impliedly extended under the act to cover the danger area in respect of the building and its curtailage.
