During the afternoon, the remaining partner took off his clothes and entered the river for a swim. Presently he heard several explosions. Hurrying back to the camp, Jie found that it had been completely destroyed by fire. The explosions were caused by oartrmlgos bursting as the fire reached them. Left without a stitch of clothing or personal property, lie wag compelled to walk five miles'to the nearest, camp, and there to borrow sufficient attire to see him to Glenorchy.' Public /Sympathy with the two men in their misfortune has been shown by generous gifts of groceries and money with which to replace their property;
