EDWARDS PAYS PENALTY
MURDER OF MRS CUNNINGHAM

John Hubert Edwards, who was sentenced to death on November 2 for the murder of Mi's Christian Cunningham in her home at Grey Lynn, on August 6, wag executed this morning at Mount Eden gaol. Death was instantaneous.
■ Asked immediately before the hanging, if he wished to say anything, he said almost inaudibly: “My God, my God. Jack' Edwards you’ve co m e to this.”
A s far as it known, Edwards, who was bom in Cheshire, ha 6 no relative in New Zealand. The body Has not been claimed and will be buried by Rev. J. E. Moreton, Anglican prison chaplain, who constantly attended the condemned man in prison.
