AUCKLAND, December 11

Mrs Manuleta Swales, a widow, was found unconscious at the back of her home at Herne Bay on Saturday, with a wound in the chest.

The injury i. s believed to have been caused by a bullet from a repeating rifle, which was found on the floor of a back bedroom about 20 feet away. The woman’s husband died on December 3, and she has since suffered greatly from grief. Her condition this morning wa s . reported by the hospital to be still.serious. ■
