MAYOR’S PROTEST

AGAINST REDUCED RELIEF PAY.

(Ter Press Association — Copyright.)

STRATFORD, November 25.

A vigorous protest against,'the reduction in unemployed relief pay was made by the Mayor, Mr J. W. McMillan, in an address this evening. “The past position wa® .bad enough, but since the Unemployment Board considei'ed it better* to give building subsidies equivalent to a present to people who could afford to build without assistance, it is much worse. I do not know how the unfortunate people will fare now their allocation i s being; reduced, in order to help those who do not need help. “As the Minister of Unemployment has made such a mes s of the task, t consider he should be asked to resign. The only way to bring a change is by public opinion. Justice is apparently measures by votes. If ihel voting power is there anything can be obtained!”
