The weather was hot, and the wicket was fast, being more helpful to the bowlers. Woodfull’s team in the first innings made 350. McCabe scored 82, Darling 30, Oldfield 16, Blackie 2, Wall (not out) 0, Fleetwood-Smith 0, Ironmonger (absent hurt) 0, extras 14. In the bowling, Ebcling took 5 for 72, Grimmett 2 for for 108, Leo 1 for 44, O’Reilly lione for 78, Nagel none for 16, and Bradman none for 18, Richardson’s team {in the second innings lost four for 169. Fingletou made nil, Rigg 2, Bradman lOx, O’Brien 42, and O’Reilly (not out) 20, while the extras were four. In the bowling, Wall took I for 63, Fleetwood. 1 for 25, Blackie 1 for 63, FleetwoodSmith none for 49, Kippax none for 19, Darling none for 16. The match was drawn.
Ebeling’s fine bowling success was a feature of to-day’s play. Th e gate for the four days was £1856. INDIA’S TEST CAPTAIN CALCUTTA, November 21. Major C. K. Nayudu has been appointed captain Gf the Indian team for all three tests at Bombay, Calcutta and Madras.
