44th ANNUAL COMMUNICATION

DUNEDIN, November 22

The forty-fourth annual communication of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand Freemasons was held in the Town Hall to-day, delegates from 305 lodges attending. The Grand Master (Lord Bledisloe) presided. Lord Bledisloe was re-elected, to the position of Grand Master, and Sir Stephen S. Allen, Pro Grand. Master.

Other executive officers returned were:—Grand Secretary, H. A. Lamb; Wellington; Grand Treasurer, D. Duncan, Auckland; president of Board for General Purposes, A. G. Graham, Auckland; president of Board of Benevolence, W. F. Bvooke-Taylor, Auckland.

It was reported that, at the Kirkpatrick Masonic Institute, Nelson, there were 19 girls in residence and vacancies, for five more. As to the Masonic Home at Papakura there, were now ten boys in residence, making a. full complement for the first cottage home in the terms of the trust endowed by Mr F. S. Spotter, and the erection of another- home was under consideration.

Acknowledgement was made of the valuable services to’ the craft of Col. George Barclay, Grand Secretary for 124 years, who is retiring from office.

Wellington City was fixed as the venue for the 1934 communication.
