Lord Hailsham has written as follows to Mr McGovern: “I have seen the •confession of Lieut. Baiili e-Stewart, anfl have considered the contents.” He. adds that he shares Mr Duff Cooper’s view that publication is inadvisable. 'lt would he impossible, if Mr McGovern were allowed to see the document, to withhold it from other Commoners, which is vitally equivalent to publication.
