AUSTRALIAN FRUIT

EXPORT restriction desired.

CO-OPERATION OF N.Z. SOUGHT

(Australian Press Association),

(Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, Novemer 18.

At a conference of the Appl e and Pear Export Council to-day, the special committee dealing with the limitation of exports, recommended the conference to restrict the export of apples to about forty-two varieties eliminating plain types. It is also recommended that a cablegram be sent to the New Zealand Control Board, inviting co-operation in restriction, and petitioning the British Government to secure a reduction in foreign imports. ..The, conference adopted these recommendations in principle, with the power to alter details later if necessary. A similar message is being sent to the Prime Minister of Australia. The conference also decided to cooperate, with New Zealand, adopting what will be known as the standard or Californian pear ease for the 1930 season. A committee was appointed to negotiate for shipping facilities for the coining season.
