SYNOD RESOLUTIONS

The Taranaki-Wanganui. Atethodist Synod Assembly reaffirmed the text of Dominion committees recommendations in reference to the unemployed situation, and decided that: “This. Synod believes there is a . Christian solution of the problem and that no solution other than a Christian solution will prove satisfactory. T 1l 6 synod therefore suggests steps be taken to call a conference of accredited representatives of the churches to formulate a scheme and evolve a policy to which un-uhristian throughout the country will rally. To this end the synod asks the president of the Methodist Conference to act along the lines suggested.”
Tne synod resolutioned appreciating ,the .Government’s refusal to introduce a State lottery, and to protest against suggested amendments to the gaming laws and increased facili- ! ties _to conduct art unions, pleading for a more effective censorship of motion pictures and literature, and approving of the work of the Bible in’ Schools League and New Zealand Alliance. ■ f .
A - remit from a circuit quarterlymeeting asking the synod to recommend that no Alethodist minister be. eligible for an office of civic respon-: sibility, except as sanctioned by the Conference was rejected.
