These' rumours have had a disturbing effect on the market for Australian dollar bonds. ! The Commonwealth and the Austra- ; lian States and municipalities’ bonds! were down from one to 4| to-day, |after showing weakness for several days. Although the present high quotation of the .pound as against the dollar would make sterling bonds attractive, many of the holders of these bonds appear to prefer dollar securities and therefore are selling the Australian ones.
