The “Financial News” Paris correspondent says it is reliably reported that the British Government has given notice to France that unless the fifteen per cent, exchange surtax on British goods is removed within a month, a customs duty will be imposed on all French goods. The British viewpoint is that the surtax’ is discriminatory, since it is not applied to the United States, and i s unfair, as no surtax was imposed on French goods during the depreciation of the franc.
